Full Boughs

Time for another behind-the-scenes update 🤗 Every couple of months I write a casual members-only report about recent Sonya Supposedly projects, to keep you apprised of the operation that you're supporting.

My plans morph as things move forward. Whatever I end up shipping usually kinda rhymes with my original vision, but isn't identical. In fact, if I've learned anything from these publishing ventures, it's that nothing — on any level — will ever turn out exactly how I expect. Gotta keep rolling with the punches!

The latest irl dispatch was popped into the postbox this Tuesday. You may notice that I experimented with some new papers. Although I'm still learning how to use them to best effect, I'm pretty happy with the quality of substrate now. And I'm generally excited to be discovering my groove with monthly happy mail, expanding Wanderverse bit by bit alongside resonant excerpts from the vast cultural commons that we've all inherited. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy, I swear 🥰

Here's a snapshot of the current editorial pipeline, straight from my master to-do list:

Each item has a dedicated document elsewhere, but this rough, messy list is where I keep track of everything that I've committed to finishing. The extra notes and sub-bullets are frequently changed as I nail down details and shift priorities.

Right now I'm focused on getting these pieces out the door:

• Godpost: hanging around my neck like an albatross, nice touch of irony given the subject matter. Have I been talking about this for a whole year at this point? Ugh. It's mostly written, and rewritten, then rewritten again, but I'm still not 100% happy with the draft. Much much closer though! When it's finally ready, the Godpost will be available publicly for all and sundry to enjoy, and will include a digital version of the printed God zine that I sent to y'all not long ago. I know that some of you aren't so interested in religion, and I appreciate your forbearance while I'm working this topic through my system.
• Forest Studies: A sort of online exhibit pulling together the artwork that I've been making for happy mail and Wanderverse, and explaining the theme that I've been exploring and developing — forest as initiation site, natural setting for the beginning stages of the hero's journey. There's a ton of raw material that I need to curate and integrate. I'm super stoked for this one, which will blend into...
• March quarterly: Let's print a zine again, hooray! [crowd goes wild] I'm writing some Wanderverse backstory (related to that forest theme) and have a great public-domain selection picked out. Stay tuned!
• 2020 anthology PDF: Dithering has continued, but I'm leaning toward a best-of rather than comprehensive compilation. Fear not, it's been on my mind >.<

There's more on the master list, but I'm hoping to cross off those four projects first.
