The rest of this year + plans for the next

Hello again dear members! Kicking myself that I still haven't come up with anything better than "members" but so it goes. Benefactors? Is that too cheesy?

Anyway, I have bad news: My printer is late and thus I am late. The tl;dr is that you're still going to get your zines, but in December and possibly early January (since I owe you three publications by year's end, but staggered, and they won't reach me all at once).

As a sort of consolation / restitution, on Monday I'm going to send you ✨ happy mail 💫 that will reach American addresses before the end of the month, knock on wood. The missive won't be a full zine, but it will be delightful to open and read. The least I can offer you is a pleasant surprise!

As I mentioned when I sent you the digital Rabbit Rites zine trio, I expected to encounter delays due to both holiday shipping (which is always a mess) and the whole covid thing (which is even more of a mess). But I wasn't expecting my printer to be where those delays occurred! Previously the only issue I'd had with Mixam was imprecise page-slicing on small zines. So I'm willing to grant some leeway due to past reliability, but at the moment I am a GRUMPY customer. I informed support that mollification is needed, and I guess it's time to scope out the other options again.

This definitely goes to show that my meta-expectation "problems that you haven't foreseen will arise" is correct. I am frustrated that knowing this doesn't seem to make me a lot better at preemptive mitigation, although presumably I'd do even worse without the general awareness that shit happens and will happen to me. Argh.

Upshot: Secrets You Forgot to Tell Yourself (creative notebook) is now on its way to me, thankfully, and will be on its way to you ASAP. But it's going to arrive in December, I fear, as with the God zine (not yet on its way to me, alas) and hopefully the Wanderverse zine, although the latter may take until January. Double argh!

2021 Plans

Doing a zine per month has been a fantastic challenge, and I've certainly improved as an artist + operative by trying to rise to the occasion. But one month is simply not enough turnaround time for a solopreneur (if that solopreneur is me) to ship a cohesive physical product, primarily logistically but also creatively. I need to hone my focus.

In a stroke of serendipitous synergy, I'm also finally ready to write a book. People have been telling me to write a book for years, but I simply didn't have a book in me yet. Now I do! I want to write about 🔮 possibility 👁️, both as concept and as phenomenon. A possibility is that which could be but isn't — the as-yet-undiscovered future(s?) that fascinate, obsess, and madden us. Tentative title: Might.

So here's what I propose delivering to you, dear members, in 2021:

• A luxe print quarterly, the evolution / replacement of the zine project
• One book chapter per month exploring the dimensions of 🔮 possibility 👁️
• Wanderverse continued, both commissions and personal contributions

When I finish the book, I'll get a beautiful hardcover printed and of course you'll receive a copy as part of your membership, plus a big ol' PDF and ebook. (Speaking of PDFs, by the end of the year I'm going to send you high-res PDFs of every zine from 2020, so that you'll have digital copies outside of this website.)
